Three Things to Know to Sell Your Art

Whether this is your first month as a creative entrepreneur or your twentieth year, you know the importance of evaluating your work, your brand, and your vision so that you can refine and expand sales.  These three key stepping stones I’m about to share will help you feel more confident to share your work online or in-person.

No. 1 Your work will only be attractive if you are actively attracting people to your work

Your work will only be attractive if you are actively attracting people to your work. And I don't mean prettiness — I mean, how well is your work aligning with your vision? And is your vision aligning with your collectors and buyers? Clarifying your story and having a compelling brand vision will make your buyers eager to collect.

No. 2 Your website is often your gallery and business card

Wherever space you share your work, whether its your website, in art shows, on social media, on alternative commerce sites like Etsy, etc, you need to be clear in how you share your work with your audience, where they can find you and come back to you, and how you can keep track of storytelling and sales. Less is more— don’t let creating a website, setting up a commerce platform, or starting your newsletter to bring people to your art hold you back from being confident and clear with the importance of your art.

No. 3 Your collectors won’t find you unless you actively invite them into your space

Set up a practical schedule to honor your energy and routine by regularly marketing your website, nurturing your social media presence, attending art shows, or email newsletters. You advocating for your schedule builds space to be diligent in building your audience who want to collect your work. Use your compelling storytelling to show up on behalf of your work because it is worth your support and diligent care.
